| Welcome to the SFMEA & NEMEA website!
A regional division of WMEA and the MENC
…..including the Northeast and Spokane Falls regions……
Greetings music educators and friends of music!
Spokane Falls Music Educators (SFMEA) and Northeast Music Educators Association (NEMEA) by-laws are available for you on the website. SFMEA includes all Spokane Public Schools, Mead Schools, and private schools within those boundaries. NEMEA includes all other surrounding schools and districts.
Both these regions are recognized by WMEA and WIAA. Although there are two separate by-laws, the two separate boards also share some responsibility. All festivals will be shared. All future checks are to be made to EWMEA. There will be a separate financial accounting for SFMEA and NEMEA.
The list of board members, calendar of festivals, entry forms and directions, and grant application are available on the website.
Since there are NO membership dues, there is a one-time annual administrative fee of $25.00 for each director. The collected fees will pay for printing, stamps, meetings, website services, supplies, mailings, in-service, ribbons for the festivals, stipend for the executive secretary, and more.
Through the cooperation of music directors from Evergreen Middle School,
Rogers High School, Ferris High School, Shadle Park High School, Whitworth University, and Eastern Washington University, the association has a home for most of the festivals.
Our Fall General Meeting is on
Tuesday, September 14th at 4:30 pm. in the Rogers High School Band Room. We would like the new teachers to the regions to come at 4:00pm
You are all welcome to come, lend a thought, and meet the directors.
SFMEA and NEMEA is YOUR association and is dedicated to serving the membership in advocating music in the schools and the community. In order for these associations to remain a vital link in the state and national advocacy process, we need your voice in the regional activities. We also strongly encourage you to be a member of the national music association (MENC) which makes you a member of the state organization. The MENC is affiliated with other music education resources and has wonderful mailings and magazines to assist your music education. Please communicate with your administrators and parent booster groups that this is not only vital but necessary for you to maintain musical excellence!
Please link to www.wmea.org or www.menc.org for complete information.
The EWMEA has maintained a proud tradition of musical excellence for many years. SFMEA and NEMEA will continue to carry this proud tradition welcoming all to be part of this musical excellence.
We look forward to meeting you at the general meetings and the various festivals. |
